WATER TRANSFER | WATER MANAGEMENT

Water is almost always a factor in any construction, plant or industrial project. Whether your water management needs are a part of planned project or an emergency situation, we can provide valuable experience, knowledgeable solutions, customized equipment and trained personnel to assist in mitigating any water concerns that arise.

We offer a broad range of water management solutions customized to your specific industry and project specifications, and in compliance with any governing bodies.

HYDRO-TESTING

We specialize in the design, set-up, management and operations of hydro-test water supply systems required for the hydro-testing of API 650, 620 and 653 storage tanks, AWWA storage tanks, pipelines and ASME pressure vessels.

We have over 150 years of combined experience in the water management and hydro-test markets throughout Canada, and have processes and procedures of the highest quality to support our clients' specific needs and conditions. We have operational capability year round, and are able to operate in extreme cold weather with our specialized heating equipment and comprehensive cold weather operating procedures. We are also able to operate in remote and environmentally sensitive locations given our methodical processes, and procedures that reduce environmental impact and meet federal waterway compliance requirements.

OUR SERVICES - HYDRO-TESTING MAY ALSO BE KNOWN AS HYDRO STATIC TESTING

We perform storage tank hydro-testing services on all sizes and types of atmospherically operated tanks both in newly built applications and the re-certification of existing storage tanks. We perform all hydro-test services covering the entire spectrum from the sourcing of any crossing agreements on public and private land, diversion licensing from applicable regulatory bodies, permanent or temporary water pumping systems, particulate filtration, water sampling and code specific functional test of the storage tank completed to applicable construction code or standard. The final step in our services is to supply a professionally assembled turn over package with detailed information required for the applicable regulatory body or utility commission granting the fit for service authorization.

This particular hydro-test is not only performed for leak detection, but is also intended to provide the client a full operational test environment for such things as foundation settlement, rolling ladder operational check or a floating roof pontoon leak test and operational run through. Our skilled technicians and project managers are trained to support all elements of the test procedures in a safe and professional manner.

Like all the services we offer, our processes and procedures have been carefully developed to minimize our environmental impact.

We also support hydrostatic tests required for other products such as pipelines, spheres and ASME (American Society of Manufacturing Engineers) Division 1 or Division 2 pressure vessels. This integrity test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid and pressurizing the item to a specific test pressure.

WATER FILTRATION OR TREATMENT

Filtration, sediment control or treatment are all industry terms that are also for cleaning fluids of constituents or contaminants. NCS Fluid Handling Systems Inc offers systems to address a specific solution for a given situation.

Filtration is technically defined as the process of separating suspended solids from a liquid, by causing the latter to pass through the pores of a membrane, called a filter. The liquid which has obtained after filtration is called the filtrate. NCS Fluid Handling Systems incorporates filters made of paper, cloth, sand, or any other porous material.

NCS Fluid Handling Systems offers filter socks or sediment control tanks for construction sites and water polishing systems, such as backwash filter tanks or carbon bed filtration tanks or cartridges, in cases where hydrocarbon removal is required.

NCS Fluid Handling Systems design engineers assist clients can with which solution is best, details for each site vary and so does the solution. The type of mixture allows the best solution to be determined.

The mixtures are of two main types: homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures. A homogeneous mixture is a mixture that is uniform throughout. A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that is not uniform throughout, i.e., ingredients of the mixture is distributed unequally. Air is a homogeneous mixture of different gases, including oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor.

Homogeneous mixtures are sometimes also called solutions; especially when it is a mixture of a solid dissolved in a liquid, where as a heterogeneous mixture is like a mixture of sand in water. The sand will stay undissolved and is distributed unevenly across the entire mixture. The sand particles floating around which will eventually settle to the bottom of the bottle makes it a heterogeneous mixture. Different types of filters are used to purify and to separate these mixtures from the contaminants. Based on the type of contaminant-large or small, filters of different pore sizes can be used.

FILTRATION SERVICES

NCS Fluid Handling Systems' design team can design a system that will deal with inflow particulate or dewatering particulate removal, as well as a system that handles situations where a hydro-carbon sheen or the presence of hydro carbon is detected. NCS Fluid Handling Systems' engineered solution team supplies, installs, and monitors specialized hydrocarbon removal filtration systems through various filtration methods.

OPEN-CELL FOAM PRODUCTS FOR DETECTION/REMOVAL OF OIL AND CONTAMINATION FROM WATER

The NCS natural contamination product line is based on new technology that is based on simultaneous detection and removal of oil and related contamination from water. This  technology is based on an open-cell foam membrane that traps water contaminants that may otherwise remain undetected. Like a sponge, the flexible elastomeric foam acts like a capillary network similar to the alveoli of the human lungs; the Open-Cell foam absorbs contamination and exhales clear water, one drop at a time. The trapped contaminants are collected and can be analyzed by independent laboratories.

Historically, contamination has been addressed by adding chemicals.  Unfortunately, the chemicals used can be toxic themselves, causing further damage and resulting in additional costs.

NCS Fluid Handling Systems is a solutions firm. With our thorough understanding of environmental regulations and science, we offer principal based, natural, cost-effective solutions that respect both regulations and the environment.  The NCS competitive distinction is to reduce total project costs by applying natural innovation to science and regulation without compromising environmental integrity or regulatory compliance.

Oil spill disasters have been one of the major concerns of the marine world for a long time now. As a result of an accident involving ships or oil rigs, the ocean water becomes contaminated by liquid petroleum hydrocarbon, causing damages to the environment for decades to come.  In addition to killing fish, marine mammals and birds, oil spills damage beaches and wildlife habitats, among others. When an oil slick reaches the beach, it also affects human settlement on the beaches and mangrove forests etc. In short, an oil spill completely disturbs an entire ecosystem for a quite long period of time.  Marine oil spills have been of tremendous concern due to the adverse impact on economic and ecological systems. Major oil spills such as the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill triggered worldwide consciousness of marine spill response.  Some other well known oil spills include The Amoco Cadiz in France in 1978; The Exxon Valdez in Alaska in 1989; The ‘Gulf War’ in Kuwait in 1991; The Erica in France in 1999; The Aegean Sea in Galicia, Spain, in 1992; and the Prestige in Spain and France in 2002.

Today, we are extremely proud to announce that we have taken our engagement for the environment one step further, with the launch of our industry leading natural contamination solutions.
